    Problem: The sales of a company decreased by 30% from 2007 to 2008, whereas the sales of the company increased by 10% from 2008 to 2009. Find the overall percentage change from 2007 to 2009?
    Solution:
    r1= 30%
    r2= 10%
    Because r1’s percentage is decreasing therefore,
    r1= -r1%
    r1= -30%
    As r2 is increasing therefore,
    r2= r2
    r2= 10%
    Overall percentage change = r1 + r2 + [ r1 * r2 / 100]
     r1 + r2 + [r1 * r2 / 100]
    = (-30) + 10 + [(-30) * 10/100)
    = -30+10-3
    =-23%
